Side Station Monochromator

The Side Station is possible only because a single-bounce monochromator can take a notch out of the main X17B white beam, and direct it to the side. This monochromator is located inside the beam pipe between the X17B1 and X17B2 hutches, and uses the center part of the beam. (The X17B2 and X17B3 main beams pass by the monochromator on each side). The energy of that beam depends on the deflection angle, and the d-spacing for the selected diffraction plane. The deflection angle is controlled by the monochromator motor. In principle, the monochromator is bendable, but the motors to drive that bend have not yet been implemented.
